Steven Neil Atley
July 22, 1963 - July 15, 2020

Steven Neil Atley passed away in Fort Meyers Florida on Wednesday night July 15, 2020. He was born July 22, 1963 to Charles “Chuck” L. Atley and Connie L. Atley in West Chester, PA.

He was raised in the Kennett Square, PA area where he attended and graduated from Kennett

High School. During his time at Kennett High School, he played and excelled at many sports including track, wrestling, and soccer where he received many awards for his athletic skill. He enjoyed learning and playing all sports. He was a track powerhouse. Outside of school hours he took up boxing with his uncle Earl Atley and created a deep love for it. He was a sports fanatic and he loved the Philadelphia Eagles and boxing more than anything. Steven graduated from Kennett High School & Central Chester County Vocational school for small engine repair in 1981.

Wanting a change of scenery he moved to sunny California where he attended Foothill College until 1986. In 1987 he moved to San Jose, CA and obtained his CDL license. He became a school bus driver for the East Side Union High School District. During this time Steven stayed very much involved in boxing and was training to go to the Olympics. Steven took part in the boxing Olympic trials for the 1992 Summer Olympics. He didn’t make the Olympic team however he did meet & fall in love with Trisha Dawnn Petris. They got married in 1992 in San Jose, CA, and had their first child Chenoa Dyani Atley. Shortly after they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Steven became a trolley operator for the very popular Las Vegas Trolley Company where he would transport passengers from all of the popular hotels & casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. During this time he became a really big Tupac fan.

In the middle of 1998 his family moved back to Pennsylvania area he began working for the Galante Hauling Co. In 1999 Steven and Trisha had their 2nd daughter Dayja Elise Atley. Shortly after Steven and Trisha split up. Steven became a single father to his two girls in the early 2000s. He loved his daughters very much and wanted the very best for them. He pushed them to excel in everything they did as well. Through everything, he had an amazing sense of humor and taught his daughters to approach life the same.

Once adapting to being a single father he started boxing again this time training & mentoring young men including Jonathan Eric Randolph who was like a son to him. Jonathan was an up & coming boxing star sadly he passed in May of 2007. Jonathan's passing was extremely hard on Steven had to take some space from training and mentoring youth. He spent most of his life as a driver getting people to where the needed and wanted to go. He had a Class B CDL W/ Hazmat and Tankers endorsement. He continued to work for Artic Glacier until about 2010 and worked for several other construction & transportation jobs that including his last job in PA where here was a Duck boat operator/tour guide for “Ride the Ducks” where he was loved by many. In 2018 he decided to move to Fort Meyers Florida because his girls were now adults and wanted to be closer to his mom Connie and start a new chapter of his life. When he got to Florida he started working for an airport transportation company and started training boxers again. Within the past few weeks of his life, he was working on starting an official training company and was in the process of applying for the appropriate business licenses, which he was extremely proud of. He planned on eventually having his own training gym.

Steven was baptized at Christ Temple. Steven was a man of great faith and knew his strength came from the lord. He also was a source of encouragement to his daughters and talked to them about the lord. He often prayed for them. He was confident he would meet the Lord one day and that in this world Jesus is the center of it all.

Steven loved riding motorcycles and spent a lot of time doing that in the 90s. He also really loved music, sports, he loved boxing and was a huge Eagles fan. He loved watching football, motocross, and basketball. He had a lot of friends and was loved by many. He would go out of his way to help people in need and genuinely wanted people to succeed and was a big fan of underdogs. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved being a Pop-pop.
